Company Background
In 1952 Verl Gurr founded the Rocky Mountain Machinery Company in Salt Lake City. This company was merged with Pioneer Equipment Company forty-five years later to form Komatsu Equipment Company. The new company emerged with extensive experience in the construction, mining and utility businesses.

Komatsu Equipment has a major component repair center in Salt Lake City. In addition, Salt Lake City is the training center for Komatsu’s Western Region.
