Two companies merged in 1997 to create Komatsu Equipment Company—Rocky Mountain Machinery Company, founded in 1952, and Pioneer Equipment Company. Komatsu Equipment serves a wide range of markets that require off road equipment by providing top quality equipment, supported by excellent repair and rebuild facilities, extensive field service capabilities, well-trained mechanics and a complete parts inventory. The company has five locations throughout Nevada, Utah and Wyoming.

In 1952 Verl Gurr founded the Rocky Mountain Machinery Company in Salt Lake City. This company was merged with Pioneer Equipment Company forty-five years later to form Komatsu Equipment Company. The new company emerged with extensive experience in the construction, mining and utility businesses.
